The school year is kicking off as summer finally comes to a close. While the school year might look different, some things will luckily remain the same. We can all agree that bringing the heat on the first day of school sets the tone for the entire school year.
We caught up with Eric King, a rising senior in Chicago, as he walks us through his #FirstDayFit with the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Alternate Bel-Air” through his lens (literally).
Take a look at how King implements his unique style with the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Alternate Bel-Air” below. Stay tuned for more back to school Jordan drops at Snipes.
Nice Kicks: What’s the importance of a #FirstDayFit for you?
Eric King: The importance of the #firstdayfit is that it sets the tone and attitude for the school year. If I start off the year looking good, and feeling good, I will continue to keep that energy throughout the year and ultimately I will thrive. Why not succeed in style?
NK: Despite the new normal we’re all in, what are you looking forward to the most this school year?
King: Despite the new normal, what I’m looking forward to the most this year is my AP Digital Media class. I’m excited to see what ways we will be creative in order to overcome our current situation and move forward with productivity. I’m always willing to learn more and advance my craft, and I’m sure that my instructor will put me in the position to do so.
NK: You’re entering your last year of high school. What are some goals you have as you look towards your next chapter in life?
King: Some goals I have for the next chapter of life are opening an in-home studio, directing and shooting a music video, shooting a campaign for a brand, going on tour with an artist, and ultimately building my portfolio to be more diverse.
NK: What’s your favorite aspect about the Air Jordan 5 in general?
King: My favorite aspect of the Air Jordan 5 has to be the spiky midsole and the netting. The rest of the shoe is simple and clean, but the midsole and the netting stands out and gives the shoe it’s unique feel.
NK: The Air Jordan 5 Retro “Alternate Bel-Air” derives from a classic. How do you plan on styling the remix?
King: I plan on styling the remix with vibrant and energetic garments to flow with the hues of the shoe.
NK: You have a very unique style of photography. What’s your favorite part about the portraits you capture?
King: My favorite part about the portraits I capture is the compositions and tones that I apply to them. My interesting and center-focused compositions give attention to my subject, along with my fluid editing tones.
NK: How important is style in your everyday life?
King: Style is very important to me because it’s another way to express yourself, and it also follows along with your attitude. If I look good, I feel good. Putting together and trying out new looks not only gives you good impressions but it also opens doors for versatility, helping you find yourself with no limitations.
