The Air Jordan 11 is one of the most recognized and prized models in the Jordan Brand franchise. Since its on-court presence in the memorable 1995-1996 championship run, the AJ11 has become an integral member of the sneaker community foundation.
However, the Air Jordan 11 Low IE sometimes doesn’t always receive the love it deserves. The low-top was best utilized as a performance model than a cultural relic due to its construction and overall design language embodied by the AJ11. Nonetheless, a classic Low IE is returning in 2021 as the “Bred” iteration is returning in OG form, according to ZSneakerHeadz. The rumored release would be the OG’s return in its true form for the first time since its 1996 debut.
For those keeping score at home, the Air Jordan 11 Low IE “Bred” is the only colorway his Airness wore on court.
Official images of the 2021 release have yet to surface online, so keep it locked on Nice Kicks and our Air Jordan release date page for more information regarding this pair and other drops.

The Air Jordan 11 Low IE ‘Bred’ aka Black/Red will make a return during Fall 2021. Also, you can expect the pair to come in true original form, mimicking the ’96 release.
Like mentioned, the pair originally released in 1996 and was one of two colorways available. For the first time, we saw a retro release take place in 2003. However, the pair was not spot on to the original. The last time we saw this Air Jordan 11 release was in 2011. This retro resembled the 2003 release more than the 1996.
This Air Jordan 11 Low IE comes dressed in a Black, White, and True Red color combination. Furthermore, since the pair will resemble the OG, it will come with Black full-grain leather throughout. Following, mesh vents wraps the entire shoes for ventilation while Black suede adorns the overlays. Red will then accent the tongue branding, around the ankle, liner, and pods on the outsole. Lastly, a White midsole and a translucent rubber outsole finish the look.

One could argue that outside of “Chicago” motifs “Cool Grey” is the strongest theme or nickname in the Air Jordan retro gamut.
The new neutral, “Cool Grey” offered something smooth in an era that was just about to embrace retro – and retro+/Non OG colorways at that – but also an era defined by the all-white Air Force 1.
While “Wolf Grey” and “Neutral Grey” Jordans follow the same path and impress just the same — think “Wolf Grey” 5s and “Neutral Grey” 1s — on the 15 year anniversary of the “Cool Grey” 4 debut we’re celebrating the shade that changed the game. See a history of Cool Grey Jordans below.
Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” (2001)
Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” 136046-011
+ In 2001, the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” not only introduced said palette to the Air Jordan retro series but also the first non-OG (Space Jams never released in ’95-’96 but had been seen on court and screen) on the Air Jordan 11 + Almost a new colorway entirely, one could cite 1998’s Nike Air Force 1 Mid SC Jewel “Cool Grey” as the first major shoe with the said scheme
Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey” (2002)
Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey” 302370-011
+ Smoking out the outsole but otherwise carrying over the same palette and patent formula, the Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” debuted in 2002 and was very well-liked just as the 11 was before + The “Cool Grey” theme was becoming an underground hit on the market with patent placement also happening on the ’02 Nike Air Flight 89
Air Jordan 4 Retro “Cool Grey” (2004)
Air Jordan 4 Retro “Cool Grey” 308497-001
+ After a two-year hiatus, “Cool Grey” was back on the Air Jordan 4 + Rather than showcasing shades of grey and using patent leather for depth, this pair played to contrast in the form of black, white, and yellow accents. Following a growing love for “Cool Grey” and acceptance of altered Air Jordan 4s, these were a success
Air Jordan 3 Retro “Cool Grey” (2006)
Air Jordan 3 Retro LS “Cool Grey” 315297-062
+ Taking the Air Jordan 4 “Cool Grey” formula to an even funkier place was the Air Jordan 3 two years later + Ranges of grey stamped the upper while sunset shades served as the highlight. These didn’t have the impact as previous Cool Grey Jordans at the moment they released – much in part to the wild styling on a beloved model that hadn’t been flipped much, the other being an aggressive apparel push. However, they’ve become more popular since
Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” (2010)
Air Jordan 11 Retro “Cool Grey” 378037-001
+ After a four-year drought, the Cool Grey was back and on the shoe that started it all + The Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey returned in 2010 to incredible fanfare. Just like the first pair of Cool Grey 11s opened up the retro audience to new colors, the ’10 Cool Grey AJ11s opened up retro Jordans to the masses
Air Jordan 12 Retro “Cool Grey” (2012)
Air Jordan 12 Retro “Cool Grey” 130690-012
+ Moving up a model, the Air Jordan 12 Cool Grey debuted in 2012 + Lukewarm in response, the shoe brought back the idea of bold pop on the otherwise neutral palette
Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey” (2012)
Air Jordan 9 Retro “Cool Grey” 302370-015
+ Celebrating 10 years, the Air Jordan 9 Cool Grey returned in 2012 + The retro Jordan craze was at fever pitch in 2012 with this pair playing well to a growing audience
Air Jordan 8 Retro “Cool Grey” (2017)
Air Jordan 8 Retro “Cool Grey” 305381-014
+ Truth be told, the Air Jordan 8 Cool Grey looks a lot more like Wolf Grey when considering the tone + Never the less, the shoe owned the color code and nickname to a rather mild response
Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” (2010)
Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” 310805-022
+ Upping the ante on the CG 3, 4 and 12 formula, the Cool Grey Air Jordan 10 featured Crayola colors all over the outsole + Fairly well-liked, these aren’t the most popular Cool Grey Jordan among older fans but did well with the next generation
Air Jordan 11 Retro Low “Cool Grey” (2018)
Air Jordan 11 Retro Low “Cool Grey” 528895-003
+ Cutting the top off the mid, the Air Jordan 11 Low Cool Grey debuted in 2018 + An accessible hit, these will likely release again in the future much like the mid and the 9s
Air Jordan 4 Retro “Cool Grey” (2019)
Air Jordan 4 Retro “Cool Grey” 308497-007
+ Back for the first time, the Air Jordan 4 “Cool Grey” returned in 2019 with the same palette as its ’04 debut + Will the “Cool Grey” colorway continues into the future? It certainly looks that way.
2020 – Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey”
Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey 2020 with a ballistic mesh upper.
+ First retro of the mid-cut Air Jordan 11 in Cool Grey in 10 years. + Ballistic mesh upper is much easier to keep clean of denim stains and scuffs than nubuck upper.
2021 – Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” Retro
UPDATE: The Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey that featured the ballistic mesh was not released in 2020 as previously thought, but it has been confirmed that the “Cool Grey” Jordan 11s will release in 2021.

Jordan Brand unveiled the Air Jordan 11 ‘Jubilee’ alongside the Air Jordan 11 Adapt that will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the model.
Inspired by original sketches of the Air Jordan 11, the 25th-anniversary interpretation of the model incorporates a metallic silver Jumpman logo and “JORDAN” on the eyelets. The heel has an embroidered silver “23” with a printed “25” on the insoles to celebrate 25 years of greatness. On the tongue is a special stitched “JUMPMAN” and “JORDAN” tag.
The Jumpman himself debuted the Air Jordan 11 in 1995 after returning from his first retirement; the Air Jordan 11 Jubilee celebrates the birth of a cultural icon and one of the most beloved sneakers in basketball history. The moment is punctuated by silver accents and detailing (the metal is the symbol of a Jubilee anniversary), which shines across an all-black mesh and genuine patent leather upper.

The Air Jordan 11 Adapt will also celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Air Jordan 11. Furthermore, this will be the first pair from Jordan Brand to feature self-lacing.
Inspiration for this Air Jordan 11 comes from Tinker Hatfield and his original sketches of the model. Initially, Hatfield designed the model to have a laceless build. For 2020, Jordan Brand adds the Nike Adapt power lacing technology that will allow this pair to automatically lace.
In addition, the pair comes in a White and Multi-Color color combination. Constructed with the traditional patent leather on the mudguard while White covers most of the upper. Furthermore, Infrared accents adorn the Jumpman, lights on the midsole amongst other areas. Lastly, Black detailing and a translucent rubber outsole complete the look.

The Air Jordan 11 ‘Cool Grey’ will return part of Jordan Brand’s 2021 Holiday collection.
Although this pair is not an original colorway, it was one of the first retros of the Air Jordan 11. Launched in 2001, Jordan Brand dropped another version in 2010. With the 2021 return, it will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the colorway.
Michael Jordan Wearing the Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey
Dressed in a Medium Grey, White, and Cool Grey color combination. While images have yet to leak of the 2021, they are expected to feature the same color blocking. In addition, they will have a higher-cut patent leather as well as peaks. The pair also comes with nubuck on the upper, which sets itself apart from the others (not confirmed yet for 2021, see below). Lastly, White covers the Jumpman, midsole, and laces while a translucent outsole finishes the look.
Recently, Jayson Tatum showed off his ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan 11. His pair caught a lot of attention due to the fact it had mesh on the upper. However, both prior releases came with nubuck. Although the pair is exclusive to JT, we can’t confirm if the 2021 iteration will have nubuck or mesh.

C.C. Sabathia has racks. And I don’t necessarily mean “racks” – although it’s certain he has those, too – I’m talking racks of sneakers, almost all of which are from his Jordan Brand family. As a longtime sneakerhead and Jordan aficionado, Sabathia now houses a collection worth an estimated value upwards in the six figures. He recently let Pam Oliver of 60 Minutes Sports into his home to showcase his sneaker room.
In a massive space that puts most living rooms to shame, Sabathia’s sneaker room actually houses its own kitchen and living area. The carefully curated collection, maintained by his wife, features some of the rarest and most exclusive Jordans you can imagine. Take a preview of the segment below, which airs tomorrow at 9pm EST on Showtime.
